About the photographer

I started doing photography back in 2002, when I was a sophomore in architecture at Washington State University. I eventually transferred to Hartwick College where I changed my major to mathematics, and minored in Photography.

During my senior year I had an exhibit of landscape photographs at the UCCCA gallery in Oneonta, NY. The photographs in Europe were taken while I was on a Fulbright in Mathematics. From 2008-2014 I went to Graduate School in Mathematics at Indiana University, and my first job upon earning my PhD brought me to Jerusalem for a full year. During breakeds I traveled and documented my experiences with a Sony DSC-RSX100. Although many of the photographs can be seen on this website my book "A Year In The Holy Land," which is available from Lulu.com, also contains narrative about my experiences.

All of the black and white photographs were taken with film, and the color photos that are not grouped by location were also taken with film. When it comes to balck and white I definitely have a bias for film, partly because of its archival quality, but also because I like the results better than what is typically seen with digital images printed in black and white. My website now also includes a website that I made for a friend of mine who is an iconographer, Sharon Kolasiski.
